How to Alleviate Allergies With Local Honey

When I first moved to our new home I spent the first two weeks with an allergy attack. One of the things I did to alleviate it was to start eating honey--but not just any honey. Purchasing local honey can help relieve allergies and is a good part of a complete holistic allergy plan. The following tips should get you started on your path to allergy relief with local honey.
1
Why Local Honey? Local honey works because it helps your body get used to the various types of pollen in your area. It works in much the same way as a vaccine. By exposing your body to small amounts of a pollen, it can get used to it and not consider the pollen an invader. When the body considers pollen to be invading the body, that's when the allergy symptoms start to arise.
2
The best place to buy local honey is right from the beekeeper at a farm or farmers market. If there are none in your area, check your local markets for honey from local sources. Make sure the honey is at least made within a 30-mile radius from where you live.
3
How much should you take? A teaspoon or so a day is more than enough. Start taking it at least a month before allergy season, or you can just take it throughout the year.
4
What else can you take for allergies? I like to round out my honey program with 2 to 3 cups of green tea a day and 500 mg. of Vitamin C daily. This seems to get my allergies under control in no time.
