Learn to avoid and treat heat illness and heat exhaustion. Heat stroke in children can occur within minutes. If the children has a temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit(40 degrees Celsius) or more, or shows any symptoms of heatstroke, seek emergency medical care immediately. Also here are some tips to perpare your child in case of heat exhaustion.

Bring the child indoors or into shade immediately.

Undress the child.

Have the child lie down and elevate his or her feet slightly.

If the child is alert, place in cool and not cold bath water. If you do not have a bath tub available you can sponge bathe the child repeatedly. In addition you can also spray the child with mist from a spray bottle or garden hose if available.

If the child is alert, give the child frequent sips of cool clear fluids. (Water or sports drinks are best)

If the child is vomiting, turn his or her body to the side to prevent choking.
