If you are fortunate enough to live in the suburbs, let the children make a mini golf-putting course.

Many stores sell inexpensive plastic golf sets; get a set for each child.

Allow the children to lay out at least 9 holes, using the hose-pipe, rocks, and existing garden features.

Make scorecards for them.
