As a fun race at any event where there are many children, a plank race will quickly determine who the team players are.
1
Make two sets of planks. Each plank must be about 6 feet long.
2
4 inches from the front and the back of the plank, drill a hole in the centre of the plank.
3
Now space out another 3 holes in the length of the plank, and drill them.
4
A length of rope is passed through each hole with a large knot on the underside, and at about 30 inches, make a loop in the rope for the participants to hold.
5
Each pair of planks gets four kids. They put their feet on the planks, and hold the rope loops.
6
The rear participant gets two ropes, as this helps lift the back edge of the board, and to move it forward.
7
Working as a team, the kids must traverse a pre-set distance. There are no penalties for falling.
