How to Swim Safely Near a River Mouth

Many people drown every year. Be sure to be safe when swimming near a river mouth by following these steps:
1
If the tide if flowing out rapidly, it is advisable not to swim in the river at all.

Swim when the tide is coming in, but even then, not if the water is flowing rapidly.
3
Try swim slightly upriver from the mouth area.
4
Make sure you have checked the times of the changing tides, so as to get out of the water before the tide starts going out.
