Start with a Square Piece of Paper
Use any type of paper, but thinner paper is easier to cut. If you’re starting with a rectangular piece, trim it to make a perfect square.

Fold the Paper Diagonally
Fold the square in half diagonally to form a triangle.

Take the triangle and fold it in half again, creating a smaller triangle.

Divide the Triangle into Thirds
With the point facing down, fold one corner across the center to about a third of the way. Repeat with the other corner so that both sides overlap and form a cone-like shape. Adjust the folds to make the two sides as even as possible.

Cut off the top of the paper above the overlapping folds, so you have a straight edge across the top. This is the base for your snowflake.

Start Cutting Your Design
Using scissors, cut small shapes—triangles, squares, semicircles, or any design you like—along the edges of the folded paper. Be mindful not to cut all the way across any edge, or your snowflake may fall apart.
